The French merchant Tavernier acquired the Blue Diamond' of the French Crown. Owned by and stolen from the King of France, this magnificent stone was recut into what is known today as the Hope Diamond' which can be seen at the Smithsonian Institute. Considered to be the most beautiful diamond in the world, the Régent Diamond' from India, is on display in the Louvre Museum in France, while the Koh-i-Noor Diamond' was kidnapped' by the British Empire after forming part of the sub-continent's history.
