The French merchant Tavernier acquired the �Blue Diamond' of the French Crown. Owned by and stolen from the King of France, this magnificent stone was recut into what is known today as the �Hope Diamond' which can be seen at the Smithsonian Institute. Considered to be the most beautiful diamond in the world, the �Régent Diamond' from India, is on display in the Louvre Museum in France, while the �Koh-i-Noor Diamond' was �kidnapped' by the British Empire after forming part of the sub-continent's history.
