Stamped with the complete hallmark in two places, (including Birmingham the city of assay) in the year 'z' denoting 1899, this very rare and collectible antique Victorian locket is in tip-top pristine condition and appears to have almost no wear other than slight abrasion and ribbing to the sides of and underneath the bail, providing tell-tale signs that the chain of choice was serrated in design. Weighing 17.1g and measuring 5.1cm long and 3cm wide, this Victorian locket is indented at the top to accommodate the bail and on the opening side for opening purposes, supported on the opposite by the original pristine hinge. Originally matching the 22k yellow gold interior plating, the outside plating has worn off over the course of a century, revealing the more gentle rose-gold tonality. Signed 'JD,&,A', this Victorian treasure could be more comfortable residing in a museum than around an appreciative neck!
