Edwardian Platinum Engagement Rings
In 1803 British scientist W.H. Wallaston facilitated the commercial use of Platinum by discovering the process to make it malleable. This led in time to the manufacture of Edwardian Platinum Engagement Rings by Louis Cartier in the early 1900's. The first person to successfully create Platinum Jewelry, he excelled in his 'garland style' masterpieces, done to enhance the brilliance of diamonds. Of unrivaled skill, King Edward VII of England named him 'the jeweler of kings and the king of jewelers'. Prince Emmanuel Filiberto of the Royal House of Savoy and his fiancée, French actress Clotilde Courau have chosen Platinum Rings for their September 25th 2004 Wedding in Rome.
