This Antique Victorian gold lorgnette chain and slide weighs 28.2g and measures 31" long, 4mm wide and 1mm deep. During the Victorian era, fashionable ladies wore very long chains incorporated into their dress, often looped around and chained to a lorgnette or ladie's pocket watch. This 14k yellow gold chain was perhaps once used to suspend such a lorgnette or pocket watch and is accentuated with another common feature of Victorian dress, a slide.
