This antique Victorian enamel brooch is handcrafted in 14k yellow gold and blue enamel, weighs 29.8g and measures 75mm long, 35mm wide 5mm deep. This authentic early Victorian brooch of unusual captivating design and enchanting color contrast is comprised of a tri-dimensional orbicular plaque rendered in light refracting 'cobalt-blue' enamel radiating fascinating rays of blue light from all angles. This outstandingly beautiful panel is bordered by a dual perimeter of polished and finely chiseled yellow gold, enhancing the sparkling effect of blue enamel. Five cascading drops comprising one to two graduated globular gold beads, the lower ones embellished with granulation accent, are mounted on delicate braided gold chains, suspending 'en tremblant' by means of delicate yet well-constructed ringlets from five artistically aligned protrusions in the enamel plaque. The reverse is rendered in polished 14k yellow gold, outfitted with the original hinged pin stamped with part of what we have identified as a Swiss hallmark which may well be the provenance based on the quality of enamel work, complemented by a 'C' hook, all of which are in pristine condition.
