This Art Deco blue moonstone ring with European-cut diamonds in antique style is crafted in lavish platinum, weighs 4.7g and measures 18.75mm wide and 7.5mm deep. Epitomizing the classically distinct features of Art Deco Jewelry, this captivating blue moonstone ring exposes a significant 3.30ct oval cabochon blue moonstone, measuring 12.44mm long and 8.43mm wide, graded 'chatoyant blue' color and 'good' clarity. The absorbing gemstone is surrounded by a meticulously scalloped openwork rim, within a radiant diamond perimeter. The latter is mounted with European-cut diamonds graded H color and SI1 clarity, enhanced by artistically mille grained borders. The enchanting blue moonstone and diamond accoutrement is exposed atop a meticulously pierced, marquise motif gallery embraced by majestically arched, subtly shielded shoulders. The latter are enriched with marquise shaped profiles mounted with matching grade European-cut diamonds, augmenting the total carat weight of diamonds to 0.32cts. This exquisite Art Deco style blue moonstone and diamond ring features a spherical platinum band and an easily sizable shank.

With its magical play of light referred to as 'adularescence', moonstone derives its name from the mysterious gleaming characteristic of the moon which appears different with every change of position. Innumerable mystical and magical connotations surround this enchanting stone. In India, for example, it is considered sacred and appreciated as a 'dream stone', believed to encourage ‘sweet and beautiful’ dreams. The ancient Greek civilizations called this stone 'selenite', named after 'Selene', their Goddess of the moon. Moonstone was extremely popular during the late Victorian era as an alternative for precious gemstones and for carving decorative cameos. It was equally valued and frequently used by the avant-garde exponent of the Art Nouveau movement, René Lalique and his contemporaries who created innovative designs for jewelry pieces ornamented with moonstone, the majority of which are to be found in museums or in private collections.
