This sapphire Victorian Engagement Ring is crafted in 15ct rose gold, weighs 1.5g and measures 6mm wide and 3mm deep. This authentic, almost certainly Victorian Engagement Ring epitomizes a most popular design of the 1890's, referred to as the 'half-hoop' ring with precious stones deep-mounted in groups of three or five, known as 'gypsy-set' rings, adorned with one type or several vari-colored precious stones. Such rings were also decorated with artistic repoussé work, which gradually replaced the early Victorian cannetille technique. This absorbing ring is deep-mounted with a trio of old mine-cut sapphires, cumulatively weighing 0.41cts, measuring 3.07mm, 3.33mm, and 3.17mm in diameter. Graded ‘lively royal-blue’ color and ‘fair’ clarity, the absorbing cerulean corundum are complemented by three alternately deep-set old mine-cut diamonds, collectively weighing 0.10cts, graded L color and I1 clarity. Secured entirely by ornately designed elongated prongs, these color-contrasted precious stones adorn a gracefully curvex plaque of stylized ovular format, embraced by meticulously reeded, tapering shoulders. This authentic half-hoop Victorian diamond and Sapphire Engagement Ring concludes with a spherical rose gold band and an easily sizable shank.
