This Art Deco ruby engagement ring with old mine-cut diamonds in antique style is crafted in lavish platinum, weighs 3.5g and measures 14mm wide and 5.5mm deep. In captivating color contrasting Art Deco style, this elaborately crafted engagement ring exposes a significant 2.13cts oval-faceted ruby measuring 9mm long and 7.60mm wide, graded a vivacious 'pigeon-blood' color and 'very good' clarity. This vividly-colored, corundum is mounted within a finely mille grained vaulted ovular floating frame, encircled by a glowing rim of bead-set old mine-cut diamonds cumulatively weighing 0.48cts graded I color and SI1 clarity. This color-enriched ovular plaque of impeccably scalloped perimeter surmounts a highly ornate pierced openwork gallery enriched by dainty marquise shaped profiles. Delicately arched, shielded shoulders are embellished with marquise-shaped silhouettes, cumulatively bead-set with 0.02cts of matching grade old mine-cut diamonds. This classically distinct Deco style engagement ring features a meticulously ridged platinum band and an easily sizable shank.

For thousands of years, ruby has been considered one of the most valuable gemstones, deriving originally from India, the classical country of rubies. In Sanskrit, this gemstone of overwhelming brilliance is named 'ratnaraj' translated as 'King of Gemstones'. Whenever a spectacular ruby crystal was discovered and reported to the Emperor, he would send notables to receive and welcome the precious new gemstone in appropriate style. Ruby is the red variety of the corundum family, one of the hardest minerals which include sapphires in a multitude of colors. This magnificent red variety of corundum consists primarily of aluminum oxide and chrome, the latter being the element awarding ruby its wonderful color which originates from deep inside the earth's core. Rubies may show very different shades of red depending on their origin, the most notable being Burmese rubies, indicating the luxurious blood red color. Ruby occurrences exist in Vietnam, Ceylon, Northern Pakistan, Cashmere, Nepal and Afghanistan. Ruby is the perfect symbol of powerful feelings and a ring set with a precious ruby symbolizes the passionate and enduring love between two people.
