Art Deco Platinum Rings

In the late 1800's Platinum-mania spread across Europe and Russia attracting kings, queens, tsars and maharajas as they bedecked themselves, even using Platinum thread. Carlos IV of Spain commissioned the creation of a ‘Platinum Room' at the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, which features hardwood decoration encrusted with Platinum. Art Deco Platinum Rings were in the forefront of fashionable jewelry at the beginning of the 20 th century and the Duchess of Windsor, an expert collector of jewelry, declared Platinum ‘the only choice for evening-wear'. Edward, Duke of Windsor married Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor with Platinum Wedding Bands made by Cartier in 1936.
