2008 Tom Lantos Block Burmese JADE Act

We are delighted to report that as of 29th September, the ‘2008 Tom Lantos Block Burmese JADE Act’ was adopted whereby both Burma Jadeite and Rubies can no longer be imported into the United States.’ A new U.S. Harmonized Tariff Code System adopted by Customs and Border Protection encompasses all jadeite and rubies, traveling through any third-party country, originating from Myanmar for commercial use. This bill does not address sales of any inventory of Burmese jadeite or rubies currently in the U.S. so although Fay Cullen Inc. is not purchasing Burma rubies or jade at this time, we will continue to offer antique jewelry mounted with these precious stones.
