Important Historical Pearls

Amongst noteworthy pearls in the world are the incredible ‘Miracle of the Sea’, a teardrop shaped gem of 1,191 grains, formerly amongst the crown jewels of the Emperor of China and currently owned by the Imperial Pearl syndicate.



The Zozima Museum in Moscow exhibits a round Oriental pearl of 111 grains, known as
‘La Pellegrina’.


The ‘Queen Pearl’, found in 1857 near Paterson, New Jersey, is a freshwater, round and translucent specimen of 93 grains and was owned by Empress Eugenie. Marvelous pearls are also included in the Pahlavi Crown and other crown jewels of Iran, including the ‘La Reine’ pearl which weighs 111 grains.
