This Art Deco bracelet with sapphires and diamonds in antique style is crafted in solid 18k white gold, weighs 40.2g and measures 7.25 inches long, 11mm wide and 4mm deep. Quintessentially Art Deco by virtue of its alluring geometric lines and artistic combination of contrasting colors, this exquisite bracelet of 'straight-line' design exposes thirteen rectangular plaques resplendent in sapphire and diamond accoutrement. These precious stones comprise 325 well-matched, vividly-colored invisibly-set French square-cut sapphires, cumulatively weighing 28.75cts, measuring 2.5mm square, graded a most desirable 'vivid royal-blue' color and 'very good' clarity. Van Cleef & Arpels specialized in the production of such bracelets while applying the avant-garde 'invisible-setting' of precious stones, identical to the setting of sapphires in this intriguing Deco style bracelet. This innovative style of gem-setting gems, also referred to as 'pavé-setting', gained popularity within a very short period of time. By cutting stones to fit the required shape of the mount or the decorative pattern and allowing large surfaces of the jewel to be 'paved' with gemstones mounted very closely together, almost all the supporting platinum or gold structure is concealed. The extensive use of this new cutting style enhanced the overall compact 'mosaic effect' of geometrically inspired Art deco jewelry and was soon adopted by other renowned designers of the period such as Boucheron who applied the novelty setting not only to jewelry pieces with geometric lines but also to brooches and earrings of naturalistic inspiration in which emeralds and sapphires were cut with domed surfaces to fit into the stylized floral design mounted within a diamond-set base. The exquisitely pavé-set cerulean panels of this outstanding bracelet are complemented and color enhanced by 0.91cts of full-cut diamonds graded H color and VS1 clarity, invisibly-set on thirteen fascinating diamond 'stripes' which gracefully intersect the cerulean plaques, creating a splendid color-enriched and glittering aesthetic. This exclusive Art Deco style bracelet of unique design and unmatched artisan-ship features a concealed tongue-and-groove clasp complemented by an invisible folding safety-latch for additional security.
