This vintage Sterling silver cake server with a serrated stainless steel blade weighs 103.8g and measures 10 inches long, 2.25 inches wide and 11mm deep. This classically elegant cake server bears the manufacturer's name 'National silver Co.' and is stamped 'Made in Sheffield England'. The National Silver Company was established in New York in 1890, manufacturing both Sterling and silver plate. The company introduced several well-known Sterling flatware patterns between 1920 and late 1940s, amongst which can be found the 'Princess Royal', the 'Rose & Leaf' and the 'Narcissus' designs. In the 1950s, National Silver absorbed several other silver firms, including Cheltenham & Company of Sheffield, England.
The Sterling silver handle of this elegant and practical cake server is chased with floral motif engravings and the serrated blade is stamped 'Stainless Steel'.
