Edwardian Engagement Rings
The intricate lace-like detailed style of Edwardian Engagement Rings was loved by ladies of the Edwardian era and along with the fine filigree work a decade or so later, still holds special appeal for women today. The smallest Diamond Engagement Ring recorded was given to two year old Princess Mary in 1518, daughter of Henry VIII at her betrothal to the infant 'Dauphin of France', the son of King Francis I. Roman iron betrothal rings were called 'Anulus Pronubus' and signified strength and permanence. Later rings were made of gold with engravings and detailed with symbolic motifs.
