Edwardian Platinum Rings

This selection of Edwardian Platinum Rings was helped in 1751 by Swedish scientist Theophil Scheffer who categorized platinum as a precious metal and by the 1780's, King Louis XVI of France declared it to be the ‘only metal fit for kings'. His jeweler, Marc Etienne Janety made several items for him before he fled the French Revolution, including an ornate sugar bowl. In 1795, he was summoned to Paris to create the standard kilogram weight from Platinum when France created the metric system. The original standard is kept at the International Bureau of Weights and Measures in Paris , Platinum being used as it does not wear away.
