This antique Georgian pendant necklace, probably of European provenance, is handcrafted in antique 14k rose gold with an integrated 14k yellow gold chain and weighs 25.9g. The pendant necklace is 15 inches long, while the pendant measures 2.75 inches long and 4cm wide. This authentic Georgian work of art epitomizes the impact of Renaissance, amongst other sources of inspiration, upon the jewelry design of the period. Georgian jewelry appeared regal, elegant and balanced, as characterized by this alluring necklace of immaculate artisanship. Exposing a highly decorative, florally themed ribbon-bow silhouette, an alluring rosette flanked by delicate scrolls constitutes the intricate 'knot' component. A fascinating assemblage of neoclassic floral and foliate motif profiles, embellished with exquisite Etruscan Revival granulation technique surrounds the alluring bow-knot, suspending an exquisite ovular plaque. The latter is mounted 'en tremblant' by means of an artfully hinged mechanism to allow free movement and augment the glittering effect of diamonds. An eminent rose-cut diamond measuring 9mm long and 7mm wide constitutes the center-stone of the ovular plaque, surrounded by 12 Baroque rose-cut diamonds mounted within granulation enhanced triumvirates to create a fascinating 'sunburst' pattern. Twelve additional Baroque rose-cut diamonds mounted in closed foil-backed settings, embellished with granulation accents constitute the perimeter of the ovular plaque, suspending a Renaissance inspired, artfully hinged decorative pendant of abstract floral design. An absorbing pear-shape drop mounted with a Baroque rose-cut diamond suspends from the attention-seeking floral silhouette, adding an absorbing swing elenment to the lower finial of the pendant. This sumptuous Georgian pendant necklace is cumulatively adorned with a significant number of 71 Baroque rose-cut diamonds measuring between 1mm and 5mm in diameter. These precious stones are entirely mounted in foil-backed settings, as were all gemstones until the beginning of the 19th century. This method of setting had the great advantage of enabling the jewelers to enhance, match, and modify the color of the stone by means of colored foils placed between the mount and the back of the gems. The integrated chain in 14k yellow gold is composed of interlocking ovular links, secured by a spring-ring clasp closure.
