This Art Deco peridot ring with baguette diamonds in antique style is crafted in lavish platinum, weighs 7.2g and measures 11mm wide and 6.5mm deep. In stunning geometrically inspired and color contrasted Deco style, this absorbing Art Deco peridot ring exposes a significant prong-set 3.75ct emerald-cut peridot measuring 10mm long and 8mm wide, graded a most desirable 'vivid-chartreuse' color and 'excellent' clarity. The alluring 'evening emerald', as named by the ancient Romans, is exposed atop an openwork gallery and embraced by trios of channel-set baguette diamonds, cumulatively weighing 0.70cts, graded H color and VS1 clarity mounted within dual layered, finely mille grained, rectangular settings, creating an absorbing 'escalier' design tapering shoulder. This arresting Deco style peridot ring of enchanting color contrast and feminine appeal features a geometrically themed pierced openwork gallery, a svelte, tri-dimensional platinum band and an easily sizable shank.

The modern birthstone for August, peridot is an ancient gemstone which has enjoyed increasing popularity for centuries. Discovered in Egyptian jewelry as far back as the early second millennium BC, peridots then originated from an occurrence on a volcanic island in the Red Sea which was rediscovered around 1900 and has been completely exploited since then. The ancient Romans cherished this vivid-color gemstone, naming it 'evening-emerald'. Many medieval churches in Europe were decorated with peridot as can be seen in the Cologne Cathedral amongst a number of others. In the 1990's peridot was the great sensation exhibited at gemstone trade fairs all around the world partly due to the discovery of rich occurrences in Pakistan, exhibiting a finer quality of peridot than anything seen previously. Not so long ago, beautiful transparent peridot deposits were also discovered in the Cashmere region. Chemically formulated as iron-magnesium silicate, peridot is one of the few gemstones which exist only in one color, which is deep green with a slight golden hue, the intensity of the green shade depending on the amount of iron contained. Although not especially hard on the Mohs' scale (6.5 to 7) peridot is quite robust and well suited to daily wear without requiring special care.
