This vintage old mine-cut diamond ring is crafted in 14k rose gold, weighs 7.5g and measures 20mm wide and 9mm deep. This classically elegant Victorian inspired vintage 1930's ring exposes a fiery and increasingly rare 0.82ct old mine-cut diamond graded K color and SI1 clarity mounted in a gracefully vaulted position, within a decorative, elongated prong setting. A glowing cluster of six prong-set old mine-cut diamonds cumulatively weighing 1.53cts graded J color and SI1 clarity surround the eye-catching center-stone, constituting an absorbing 'diamond flower' of six fold petals mounted within individual floating settings of orbicular format creating a captivating scalloped perimeter. This florally designed pierced openwork plaque is vertically enriched by a quatrefoil arrangement of absorbing scroll-worked profiles, complemented by delicate granulation technique of Etruscan Revival inspiration applied to the outer rim of petals. This exquisite Victorian and Etruscan inspired diamond ring features a decorative pierced undercarriage and delicately shielded shoulders which merge to form a spherical rose gold band and an easily sizeable shank.
Old mine-cut diamonds are amongst the earliest diamond cuts becoming rarer by the decade. Old mine-cut diamonds are cut with gently rounded corners and brilliant-style facets, the old world charm deriving from an open culet which favors fire over brilliance. Many of these diamonds have now been re-cut to suit more modern proportions, especially those of higher quality, leaving few of these charming and desirable cuts with wide-flashing facets for us to enjoy today.
