This antique Victorian demantoid ring mounted with an old mine-cut diamond is crafted in 18k yellow gold, weighs 3.1g and measures 12mm wide and 5.5mm deep. This dainty yet highly ornate engagement ring of notable feminine grace was named by the French as the 'Toi et Moi' ring, meaning 'you and me' and epitomizes the 19th century Victorian Romanticism. In exquisite 'en diagonal' juxtaposition, this period ring exposes a complimentary duo of demantoid green garnet and an antique old mine-cut diamond, set against the warm tone of yellow gold creating a stunning aesthetic composition. The 0.61ct modern brilliant-cut Russian demantoid green garnet measuring 4.83mm in diameter is graded a delightful 'chartreuse' color and 'good' clarity' and the fiery 0.68ct old mine-cut diamond is graded J color and SI3 clarity. This intriguing, color-enriched duo is mounted within alluring crown-shaped prong-settings of immaculate openwork craftsmanship. The romantically designed curvaceous, tri-dimensional shoulders are cumulatively adorned with six bead-set rose-cut diamonds and embellished with delicate chase work. This absorbing antique ring of great finesse and Victorian flair concludes with a slender, meticulously ridged yellow gold band and an easily sizable shank.

Referred to as the 'star of green garnets', demantoid is a green variety of the mineral andradite, a member of the garnet family of minerals. By definition, demantoid is always green, but the exact shade ranges from a very light yellowish peridot-color green to almost the color of fine emeralds. Due to its scarcity and extreme luminosity, demantoid is amongst the most highly esteemed gemstones. Mined in the depths of the Ural Mountains in Russia, this valuable and very rare gem is most often found in antique jewelry from the turn of the 19th century. Russia's renowned jewelry designer Carl Fabergé admired greatly the green garnet and used it in many of his world famous creations.
