This peridot Estate Ring with diamonds crafted in 14k yellow gold weighs 5.6g and measures 13mm wide and 9.5mm deep. Creatively designed and of timeless elegance, this absorbing estate peridot ring exposes a significant 6.78ct oval-faceted peridot measuring 13mm long and 10mm wide, graded an enchanting 'lively-chartreuse' color and 'very good' clarity. Mounted within a dual tiered diaphanous setting, this fascinating center-stone is embraced by delicate triumvirate shoulders exposing trios of full-cut diamonds cumulatively weighing 0.30cts, graded H color and SI1 clarity, mounted in dual layers. Tapering shoulders of innovative design merge into a spherical yellow gold band and an easily sizable shank.

The modern birthstone for August, peridot is an ancient gemstone that is currently very popular. Discovered in Egyptian jewelry as far back as the early second millennium BC, peridots at the time originated from an occurrence on a volcanic island in the Red Sea which was rediscovered around 1900 and has been completely exploited ever since. The ancient Romans cherished this vivid-color gemstone and named it the ‘Evening Emerald’. Many medieval churches in Europe were decorated with peridot as can be seen in the Cologne Cathedral amongst others. Not long ago, beautiful transparent peridot occurrences were discovered in the Kashmir region while in the 1990's peridot was the great sensation exhibited at gemstone trade fairs all around the world partly due to the discovery of rich occurrences in Pakistan which brought a quality of peridot graded as finer than anything seen before. Chemically an iron-magnesium silicate, peridot is one of the few gemstones which exist only in one color which is deep green with a slight golden hue, the intensity of the green shade depending on the amount of iron contained. Although not especially hard on the Moh's scale (6.5 to 7) peridot is quite robust and as such excellently suited to daily wear without requiring special care.
