This estate South Sea pearl ring with diamonds is crafted in 18k yellow gold, weighs 8.7g and measures 14.5mm wide and 12.5mm deep. In captivating, distinctly elegant style, this estate South Sea pearl ring exposes a round 'very good' nacre South Sea pearl measuring 10.29mm in diameter, graded 'pinkish-silver' color. This alluring and rare organic gem with its unique satiny luster coming from the warm waters of the South Seas is majestically exposed atop a dual-hoop, gracefully curvaceous openwork plaque channel-set with 0.50cts of full-cut diamonds graded 'G' color and VS clarity range. These meticulously designed, diamond-encrusted hoops taper to merge into a svelte spherical band and an easily sizable shank.

South Sea pearls are amongst the rarest and most valuable varieties of pearls produced from India and Pacific Ocean including Myanmar, Australia, Philippines and Indonesia and since the 1980’s, in China. South Sea pearls are produced from the ‘Pincada maxima’ oyster which grows up to 12 inches in diameter and exists in two varieties, the ‘silver-lipped’ and the ‘gold-lipped’, distinguished by the coloration of the interior edge. Also known as mother-of-pearl, this shell is responsible for the color of cultured pearls produced. South Sea pearls have several unique characteristics such as an unusually thick nacre ranging from 2 to 6mm compared to other cultured pearls such as Akoya whose nacre does not exceed 0.35. to 0.70mm in thickness. Another distinct characteristic of South Sea pearls is their unique and satiny luster, which is attributable to the rapidly deposited nacre and the warm water of the South Seas. A subtle array of colors including pure white, silver and golden, quite rare in other varieties of pearls, is another distinct characteristic of South Sea pearls. It takes an average of three years to produce these beautifully iridescent pearls of nearly perfect shape and exceptional size, offering a color spectrum encompassing white, pink, silver, and pale to vivid gold and considered the highest quality pearls in the world.
