This vintage South Sea pearl brooch with diamonds is crafted in 14k yellow gold, weighs 28.2g and measures 49mm long, 4.5cm wide and 10mm deep. Characterizing the impressive style of the postwar Retro jewelry, particularly the movement towards naturalism in jewelry design of the late 1940's, this opulent 1950's clip brooch is resplendent in 2.98cts of diamonds. Designed as an open flower head, a most favorite motif of the late 1940's produced in vari-colored gold, this sizable and affluent 2 inch brooch is adorned with precious and semi-precious stones. The randomly pleated, overlapping 'petals' are rendered in openwork 'knife-edge' polished yellow gold, centered with a round South Sea pearl measuring 13mm in diameter, graded 'golden-cream' color and with 'very good nacre'. The meticulously crafted petals are cumulatively bordered by 2.98cts of full-cut diamonds graded H color and VS clarity range, mounted on each gracefully scrolled 'knife-edge' component within quatrefoil prongs. This captivating vintage 1950's brooch of creative floral design features a hinged yellow gold dual 'fur-clip' on reverse and a pair of clinging security hooks enabling a grasp hold of thick fabric.
