This vintage black enamel pinkie ring is crafted in 18k yellow gold black enamel, is an un-sizable size 3.25 and weighs 10.5g and measures 15mm wide and 9mm deep. Characterizing the most popular vintage 1950's 'bombe' design, this highly elegant 1950's vintage black enamel pinkie ring incorporates a dome-shaped, plaque, adorned with 0.50cts of full-cut diamonds graded H color and VS2 clarity. The sparkling precious stones are artfully collet-mounted in a captivating lozenge alignment against a black enamel background, augmenting the aesthetic beauty of the ring. This exquisite vintage diamond and enamel pinkie ring features a delicate diaphanous gallery, substantial black enameled shoulders and band and a spherical yellow gold shank. In view of its distinct design and enameled surface, this absorbing vintage pinkie ring (size 3.25) is not sizable but it is an average pinkie finger size.

The word 'pinkie' derives from the Dutch word 'pink' meaning little finger, usually smallest finger of the human hand, opposite the thumb, next to the ring finger, also called the anti-thumb, the fifth finger, the baby finger, or the fourth finger colloquially. In Medieval times, signet rings were often worn on the small finger. With the popular fashion of wearing several rings on one hand at a time, ‘pinkie rings’ were widely worn on the little finger during the postwar Retro era. Some sources within the jewelry trade have described ‘pinkie rings’ as 'necessary jewelry accessory for wise guys wearing three-piece suits’. This classification seems to have ranked wearing ‘pinkie rings’ on the little finger as essential to the appearance of the well-dressed gentleman as ‘signet rings’ were considered to be during the Victorian era. Surveys conducted in the United States have shown that ‘pinkie rings’ are mostly worn on the small finger by Italian Americans of both genders!
