This vintage men's Elk's ring is crafted in 10k yellow and white gold with black and white enamel accents, weighing 9.9g and measuring 14.5mm wide and 6.5mm deep. Impressive and valiant in style, this elaborately detailed vintage 1950's Elk's ring incorporates a convexed rectangular plaque bearing the Masonic emblem of the 'Benevolent Protective Order of Elks’ rendered meticulously in repoussé gold. This rare Elk symbol is generally represented by an elk's head, holding the symbolic 'Lodge watch', depicted on this ring in the form of a miniature pocket watch, with black and white enamel dial, arrow-headed gold hands and applied Roman numerals. A glowing 0.05ct full-cut diamond graded H color and VS1 clarity surmounts the symbolic elk's head, secured by quatrefoil prongs. The elaborately designed, broad and tapering shoulders expose stylized yellow gold shield motif profiles, mounted on elegantly matted and textured yellow gold and embellished with black and gold enamel depicting the letters 'BPOE' denoting 'Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks' which was founded in 1868. A svelte yellow gold band and an easily sizable shank stamped with the goldsmith's name 'GRAF' conclude this elegant vintage men's ring of symbolic and spiritual significance.

Arising from obscure origins, theorized to be anywhere from the time of building King Solomon’s Temple to the mid-1600’s, the ‘Freemasonry’ now exists in various forms all over the world , claiming millions of members who share moral and metaphysical ideas. The fraternity is organized into 'Grand Lodges’ or ‘Orients’ as they are called in France and Italy. Freemasonry uses the metaphors of operative stonemason’s tools against the allegorical backdrop of the building of King Solomon’s Temple to convey ‘a system of morality veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols’. The existing evidence suggests that Masonic Lodges existed in Scotland as early as the sixteenth century and in England by the mid seventeenth century. The Grand Lodge of England (GLE) was founded in 1717, rapidly expanding into a regulatory body which most English Lodges joined, though a few of them resented the modernizations the GLE attempted to endorse, resulting in growing rivalry between the ‘Ancient Grand Lodge of England’ and ‘the Moderns’ in 1751, until they united in 1813 to form the ‘United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE). The oldest jurisdiction in Europe, ‘La Grande Loge Nationale Francaise’ was founded in 1728 based on the principles of its predecessor ‘Le grand Orient de France' (GODF) and is currently the only French Grand Lodge in amity with the UGLE and its concordant jurisdictions worldwide. Most Latin American countries adhere to the European Freemasonry principles, sharing regular ‘fraternal relations’ with Europe.
